Happy New Year!

Wednesday, January 2nd, 2008

Last year was eventful for the Suzuki + Chou clan. We made the transition in June 2007 from Suzuki PR to Suzuki + Chou Communimedia, which was a milestone. Then we hired Nicole Rogers to direct the Bay Area office and Kim Prohaska to join our Seattle office as an account manager. We are all grateful for our terrific clients and we’re especially happy to start 2008  off with a new client: Chipotle Mexican Grill. We hope that everyone has a peaceful, healthy and grand 2008!

TASTE Restaurant Launches Blog

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

Having a blog is the trendy thing to do, but it’s also a great way to keep customers up to date on current events at TASTE. Check it out here.

Don’t forget to visit chef Maria Hines at the Tilth Blog.

The Recipes Are Free

Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

On Saturday at the University District Farmers Market, we launched the Chef in Residence program. A chef sits at a booth ready to answer any questions about cooking that shoppers may pose. It’s meant to be a service for market goers, who otherwise may avoid unfamiliar produce. The advice is geared toward the home cook, so recipe ideas are simple and straightforward. (By the way, some people asked the cost of the recipe cards; they seemed suspicious about our presence and assumed we were selling something. For the record, the recipe cards are free.)

Elise Fineberg, the pastry chef at TASTE Restaurant, was the first on the roster. One shopper posted her experience on her blog. It’s a cute anecdote. For a list of the guest chefs, read this post.

New Markets and New Team Member

Monday, September 17th, 2007

SEATTLE – Sept. 17, 2007 – It’s been a busy few months at Suzuki + Chou Communimedia. In addition to expanding into the Portland and San Francisco Bay Area markets, the communications firm has hired an account director to oversee what will be a fast-growing niche in Northern California.

Nicole Rogers heads the San Francisco office. Previously, Rogers worked at Chocolate Communications and, most recently, Olgivy Public Relations Worldwide. She handled accounts including Torani and Cost Plus World Market. Rogers has unwavering enthusiasm for building relationships with clients and the media, and enjoys creating effective ways to reach the public.

Bring on San Francisco

Monday, September 10th, 2007

We have officially launched our San Francisco office. We welcome CAV Wine Bar + Kitchen and Jennifer Walker Design to our portfolio.

CAV, which just won recognition as “wine bar of the year” in Sunset Magazine, is the brainchild of Pamela Busch and chef Christine Mullen. What distinguishes it from other wine bars are the diverse wine list and the exceptional food. Have you ever tasted a Slovenian wine? You can at CAV. The okra frites are so good you’ll order seconds — we did. Among the wines we enjoyed during a recent visit was a 2001 Marcel Deiss pinot gris that killed any preconceived notions of pinot gris being an uncomplicated go-to wine. The Marcel Deiss definitely was special.

Jennifer Walker is an up-and-coming interior designer who also designs furniture. When she launches her new web site, we’ll share more details.

Chef in Residence Program Provides Farmers Market Shoppers
Expert Cooking Advice

SEATTLE – Aug. 21, 2007 – What do you do with kohlrabi? How do you prepare lobster mushrooms? What’s the best way to cook purple cauliflower? Shoppers who are inspired by the diversity of produce at the farmers market but uncertain how to take advantage of the bounty now have a resource.

The Chef in Residence program will launch at the University District Farmers Market on Sept. 15. From 10 a.m. to noon, a professional chef will be available to answer questions about produce and cooking ideas. Seasonal recipe cards will be available, too.
